Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Welcome to our Mayo Campus
About the Campus
In 1994, the GMIT Mayo campus opened its doors to students in the west wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Castlebar, less than a 10-minute walk from the town centre. It continued to expand, and today is a thriving 3rd level campus with over 1,000 students. The entire building has been sensitively restored to retain as much as possible of the original architecture, while providing the modern facilities and services required for students and staff. GMIT Mayo campus specialises in nursing and outdoor education, as well as offering courses in business, technology, history and geography, applied social care, and early childhood education and care. There are also numerous courses and facilities available for adults wishing to get back into education both full-time and part-time. In 2011, it became the first Institute of Technology campus in Ireland to be awarded Green Campus status.
